Silver needle wordt in Fujian, China geproduceerd. Gekend als de bakermat van Witte thee, Fujian is tot vandaag de grootste producent van witte thee en de geboorteplaats van zowel de meest gekende als meest exclusieve witte thee. (Bai Mudan of Pai mu tan en Bai Hao Yin Zhen of simpelweg Yin zhen respectief.)
Thees afkomstig uit deze provincie in China hebben van nature een lager theïnegehalte, of het nu over witte, groene of zwarte thee gaat.
