Ya Bao is een witte thee van een zeer hoge kwaliteit, ook wel Silver tea genoemd.
Het blad ziet er een beetje ongewoon uit met zijn dikke en harige compositie, dit komt omdat deze uitzonderlijke thee groeit in het wild en wordt geoogst van honderd jaar oude bomen. Een soort die enkel nog te vinden is in de Chinese provincie Yunnan. Daar groeien ze in een beschermd natuurgebied waar maar 1 maal per jaar geoogst mag worden.
Sinds deze bomen een lange rusttijd hebben tussen oogstperiodes krijg je een thee met een vol en rijk aroma. Van de overige theeblaadjes, die groeien buiten het oogstseizoen wordt vaak pu erh gemaakt.
