Formosa Honey Black
Het Hualian district aan de oostkust van Taiwan is thuis aan deze specialiteit: Honey Black. Deze thee wordt voornamelijk gedurende de zomer geproduceerd. Sprinkhanen knagen lichtjes op de jongste bladeren, dit stopt hun groei en doet ze krullen. Op hetzelfde moment zorgt het speeksel van de insect voor een reactie met het sap van de bladeren, deze geeft een honingachtig aroma. Dit proces geeft Honey black zijn heerlijke smaak zowel als naam. Het blad is lang met een lichte schittering., donker bruine bladeren met koper gekleurde tipjes en een kleine krul. Honey black geeft een sterke, glanzende infusie met een aroma dat doet denken aan de fijnste oolongs; fleurig getint met een zacht honing en turf aroma.
