Houjicha is een Japanse groene thee met een unieke bewerkingsmethode. Als basis van deze thee wordt een Sencha gebruikt die dan over steenkool wordt gerookt in porseleinen potten. Dit geeft de thee een gerookte en volle smaak zonder zijn kenmerkende plantaardige tint te verliezen.
Na de razende bekendheid van Matcha is Houjicha nu ook steeds populairder om in poedervorm te drinken, met of zonder melk. Deze "Houjicha latte's" zijn minder grasachtig en warmer van smaak. Gelijkend op de hartigheid van een cappuccino.

100 % Japanse Houjicha poeder*

- opgieten met water van 75° - 80°C
Gebruik 1 mespuntje houjicha poeder per kom of gebruik uw 'momoka' matcha lepel voor de perfecte hoeveelheid. Voeg vers gekookt en dan afgekoeld water toe en klop de melange voorzichtig op met een bamboe klopper.
Het schuim kan puur gedronken worden of toegevoegd worden aan (koe of plantaardige) melk voor een houjicha latte.
U kan ook gerust de thee in een grotere hoeveelheid water oplossen voor een minder geconcentreerde smaak.
